A's managing partner Lew Wolff said the team's stadium issue will not be on the agenda for next week's owners' meetings in Denver.

"I don't think it will be on the agenda, otherwise I would have known about it," Wolff said with a chuckle in a phone interview.

He declined to comment on whether the A's tried to get the topic on the agenda.

The A's have been in a holding pattern going on three-and-a-half years regarding their desire to build a new ballpark in San Jose. The roadblock is that the Giants hold territorial rights to San Jose and are opposed to the A's moving there.

Those rights can only be overturned with a 75 percent vote from the 30 major league owners, and it's assumed that the quarterly owners' meetings would provide an opportune time for such a vote to take place.

Though the ballpark issue won't be an official agenda item, it is likely to be discussed informally among the owners, an informed source said.

Wolff was asked if he uses these meetings to try to lobby his fellow owners on why the A's so badly need a new stadium.

"It's up to the commissioner's office," Wolff said. "... This is a process that unfortunately is taking longer than I hoped, but it's a fair process."

The three-person committee dispatched by MLB commissioner Bud Selig to research the A's stadium options reportedly held discussions with city officials from Oakland and San Jose recently.
